| Il Convento. is a unique and unusual property occupying the entire upper floor of a Xth century monastery, the "Badia di Santa Maria Olearia". The house is a separate building next to the abbey and comprises the caretaker's quarters on the lower floor, and the monastery complex itself, now owned by Italy's Ministry of Culture. Guido the caretaker, will be delighted to provide you with a private tour of the Badia, with its medieval frescos, monks' catacombs and chapel. What makes "Il Convento" truly special and unique is that it is built within a large, natural cave. This acts as a natural shelter to the house and its open areas and terraces; from where awe-inspiring views of the Amalfitano Coast, Amalfi and Ravello can be enjoyed. Recently restored, "Il Convento" is tastefully furnished in typical coastal style. All rooms are equipped with both heating and air conditioning. Technical Description: Access to "Il Convento" is by means of a stairway that once acted as the entrance to the old monastery. You then pass the caretaker's' quarters to reach the upper floor and the main part of the house which features an annexe between the east and west terraces. Main structure: Living room with fireplace, sitting room, dining room overlooking the sea with door leading to the west terrace with pergola and table for al fresco dining. There is a twin bedroom with a bathroom with bath to the left, as well as a second double bedroom with en-suite circular bathroom with shower.
